Motivation.

I don’t know what’s up with me lately, but I am seriously lacking motivation to go to the gym. I suppose it could be the dropping temperatures and increase is homework- but let’s face it, neither of those things are going away anytime soon!

I’m trying to think of good ways to motivate myself to complete my workouts. So far I have this:

  • Get help from friends- sometimes they’re the best motivation I have and I love them for it!
  • Motivational Post-its (EVERYWHERE)

  • Reminding myself of my race coming up (and the time I want to run it in)

So far these have been pretty helpful. I have to say again that I am lucky to have friends joining me in my training that push me when I need them to. Also, I’m a huge post-it fan. They are all over my room and the little reminders really do work.

Before I head to the gym I’ll share my cookie adventure of the day with you!

Change of Direction…

Here’s the deal:

I started this blog as part of an Online Journalism class. I am finished with the class but want to continue blogging for many reasons (that I will list later), but the tone/topic of the blog will be changing slightly. I recommend checking out the earlier posts for relatively unbiased health and fitness articles, but from now on this will mostly be a personal blog about yours truly. So, if you’ve read the blog before thank you and feel free to continue, and if you are new to the blog- welcome!

I will chronicle my journey to becoming a runner (again) and tell you all about myself, my endeavors, and my accomplishments along the way. The first task I will be tackling- The Shamrock Shuffle 8K in Chicago on March 21st. I’ve been a runner on and off for most of my life for various reasons and I am working to get back in to running shape for this race. I hope to continue my running efforts for a very long time and someday run a full marathon.

Besides being (or trying to be) a runner, I am also a wild and crazy baker. I bake any chance I get. I bake for fun, to relieve stress, when I’m bored, and for special occasions. I have baked my entire life and was taught by my lovely and wonderful Grandmother most of what I know (with some help from my dear Mom as well). I have also done a lot of self-teaching and love to try to things. You’ll see much of my baking adventures on here as well- I hope you enjoy them :-)

Finally, I have to say that reading other running/health/food blogs has really inspired me to kick my running back in to gear and I hope to inspire others as well.

Hopefully, this explanation made sense, and if it didn’t I’m sure the new angle will become clear after a few posts.

The Blog

This blog is dedicated to living a healthy college lifestyle. In college, people find themselves distracted and busy, often causing them to let their health slip. Healthy Living, College Life is a journal of my pursuit of a healthy lifestyle while I'm in college.
